There is a sub-genre of Hollywood film that features older actors and actresses who were once stars in their prime but have essentially become character actors, playing themselves. This list of films includes On Golden Pond, The Whales of August, Sextet, Myra Breckinridge, Cocoon, I'm Not Rappaport among others.
I want to create a project where queer men of different experiences are made to relate to each other through lenses of sexual agency, age, personal history, and bodily autonomy. I am interested in working with inter-generational queer men to realize this project. I am looking to work with older gay men to engage in an ‘improvisation’ interaction with younger sex-working men rooted in these cinematic texts.

I want them to develop their own performance for, with and by each other, stemming from the content of the text and framed by the understanding of their differing 'roles' within this context. I will be leading a series of short workshops with the participant pairs before they develop their specific contribution together, alone.
