PASS

Many kinds of queer and material knowledge are constructed around the notion of passing, including elaborate forms of hair, self-presentation, drag, and costume. Queer bodies know and hold more than can be told, or spoken; for one night only we pass together, to each other, and celebrate the legacy of our decade-long friendship as a leather dyke and drag queen.

As part of Nuit Rose June 21, 2014, Anthea Black and Mikiki performed PASS in James Canning Gardens, a series of ritual passings that use hair and textile as central images for the
passing of time
passing the torch
passing away
passing of knowledge
passing of skill.
